A walk around all four sides (375 ft ea.) of a block is about 1/3 of a mile. SO if you started on one corner of a block, walked 3 blocks in any direction, made a right angle turn, walked 3 more blocks and made a right angle turn in the same direction as the first turn (i.e. First turn right, second turn right, third turn right) you would walk in a complete square ending where you started. Three blocks up, three blocks over, three blocks down and three blocks back to starting point equals almost a mile.
